Projects and Recovery

Save Projects#

Advanced UI projects use the .kmstudio format. A project contains layout, buttons, actions, textures, layers, and linked menu content. Do not rename it to JSON or keep only the exported PNG files.

  • Ctrl+S: save the current project.
  • Save As: save to a new location.
  • Recent Projects: search the latest 10 projects by name or path.

Automatic Recovery#

The app periodically writes a recovery copy while you edit. If the previous session did not close normally, the next launch asks whether to restore or discard it.

Save the project normally after recovery. Regular saves also keep recent project snapshots for accidental-edit recovery.

Linked YML#

After export, select Open in YML Editor. Changes to the menu title, settings, inputs, events, or bottom buttons are stored back into the linked .kmstudio project when saved.

The next export refreshes the advanced UI display area while preserving the other menu content edited in YML.
